Lotty Adam—  Artist

Biography

Lotty is an expressionist artist exploring the complex and ephemeral nature of life. She studies her perceptions of the world, investigating both her changing emotional experience and socio-cultural inluences. In 2022, Lotty developed her practice on the London-based Turps Banana’s painting programme, after having studied at City and Guilds of London Art School. Previously Lotty completed a degree in History of Art and Italian at The University of Manchester.

Her practice incorporates mediums and concepts in conjunction; the qualities of the mediums and her process reflect her interpretations of the emotional, intellectual, and socio-cultural elements that shape the world. In particular, inks can only be manipulated and controlled to an extent, this allows for unpredictable results stiumlated by raw emotion, energy, and movement that is generated when creating her expressive artwork. This transience is also reflective of the often uncertain and volatile experience of human existence.

Lotty is currently working in mental health alongside her pratice and her training to become a psychotherapist hugely influences her work.
